1955 Nap Lajoie Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $2,350.00
Official “Cleveland Baseball Federation League” ball signed and dated by Hall of Fame second baseman Nap Lajoie. The signature is scripted “Larry Lajoie” in blue ink on a side panel and grades “9.” The date, “4-4-55,” appears directly below his name. There are two other faded black-ink signatures on the ball (names illegible). One appears on the sweet spot, while the other has been penned on the side panel opposite to that on which Lajoie’s signature appears. Ideally, neither of those signatures is visible when viewing the Lajoie signature and the ball presents beautifully as a Lajoie single. Lajoie was eighty years old at the time he signed this ball and he passed away just four years later. Single-signed Lajoie balls have always commanded a premium price in the hobby, making a rarely seen ball such as this, which displays exactly the same as a high-grade Lajoie single, a special opportunity and a bargain in the eyes of many collectors. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $2,350.00
