1956 Brooklyn Dodgers National League Champions Team-Signed Ball with Robinson and Campanella
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,645
Official National League (Giles) ball signed in blue ink by the following twenty-two members of the 1956 National League champion Brooklyn Dodgers: Robinson, Alston (Mgr., sweet spot), Campanella, Reese, Snider (clubhouse), Drysdale, Labine, Amoros, Erskine, Craig, Gilliam, Walker, Jackson, Fernandez, Mitchell, Bessent, Newcombe, Cimoli, Howell, Roebuck, Furillo, and Maglie. The signatures have been boldly penned and grade "9" overall. All of the manufacturer's stampings remain bold and legible. The ball has been coated with a light layer of protective shellac and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. This is an outstanding high-grade Brooklyn Dodgers team ball dating from Jackie Robinson's final season with the club. Interestingly, this has been a prized family keepsake for decades, and our consignor decided to part with this ball (along with two others, which are also featured in this auction) only after learning of its substantial value from one of the appraisers at the Antiques Roadshow, held in Wichita, Kansas, in the summer of 2008. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,645
