Among the unlikely items found in the trunk containing Val Picinich's personal collection were seventeen extremely well preserved unsigned Major League baseballs. Nine of the National League balls feature red and black stitching and date from the 1926 to 1932 manufacturing period. The tenth ball has red stitching and dates from the 1933 to 1934 manufacturing period. All of the American League balls have red and blue stitching and date to the 1910 to 1925 manufacturing period. Picinich's Major League career spanned the years 1916 to 1933, during which time he played in both the American League (1916-1925) and National League (1926-1933). All of the baseballs display some evidence of use, and vary slightly in condition. Three of the National League balls display light to moderate soiling and are in Excellent condition overall.
