1983 Rickey Henderson Oakland A’s Signed Game-Used Road Jersey - Highest-Graded Example!

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $1,763

Oakland A’s road jersey worn in 1983 by Rickey Henderson, the most recently elected member to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS, with no others graded at this level. The gray knit jersey is lettered “Oakland” across the front and features the number “35” on the reverse. “Henderson” is lettered on the reverse above the number. All front letters and numerals are appliquéd in green on gold tackle twill. All reverse letters are appliquéd in green tackle twill. Situated on the left front tail are a “Sand-Knit 42” label and a Sand-Knit exclusivity label (which reads in part "Designed & Tailored Exclusively For The Oakland Athletics"). Henderson has signed the jersey in black Sharpie (grading "8") along the upper left breast. The jersey is all original, with no alterations, and displays moderate use, including a few scattered light stains on the reverse. Henderson batted .292 with 9 home runs, 48 RBI, and a league-leading 108 stolen bases in 1983. He also led the league in walks and scored over 100 runs. Henderson is considered by many to be the greatest leadoff hitter in baseball history. He retired in 2003 as the game's all-time leader in both stolen bases (1,406) and runs (2,295), and is one of only twenty-seven players to amass 3,000 or more hits in his career. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2009, his first year of eligibility. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is one of only eight Rickey Henderson Oakland A's jerseys listed in the MEARS census and, most important, it ranks as the only Henderson jersey graded A10 by MEARS and the highest-graded example by far (none of the other seven grade higher than A5). LOA from Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,763
