1976-1978 Bob McAdoo New York Knicks Game-Used Jersey
Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $3,525
New York Knicks road jersey worn by Hall of Fame power forward/center Bob McAddo during the late 1970s. Graded A10 by MEARS. McAdoo is an extreme rarity among basketball jerseys. In fact, this ideal A10 example is the only Bob McAdoo jersey listed in the entire MEARS census. The blue mesh jersey is lettered “New York” across the front and features the number “11” on the front and reverse. “McAdoo” is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All front letters and numerals are appliquéd in orange on white tackle twill, while all reverse letters are appliquéd in white tackle twill. Both a “Sand-Knit 46” label and a “Gerry Cosby” label appear on the left front tail. As MEARS notes in its accompanying LOA, the Sand-Knit label on this jersey dates to the 1972-1974 manufacturing period; therefore, this jersey shell was “rolled over” for McAdoo when he played for the Knicks between the years 1976 and 1978. The jersey is all-original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear throughout. Bob McAdoo was one of the top scorers of his era. A former NBA Rookie of the Year (1973) and MVP (1975), McAdoo led the League in scoring three consecutive seasons (1974-1976) before joining the Knicks during the middle of the 1976/1977 season. He continued his high-scoring ways in the Big Apple, averaging a team-high 26.7 ppg his first year, and a team-high 26.5 ppg in 1977/78. The following year he was once again leading the Knicks in scoring with 26.9 ppg before being traded to the Boston Celtics in mid-season. He later played with Detroit before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 1981, where he eventually won two NBA Championships (1982 and 1985). He retired after the 1986 season with 18,787 career points and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. Bob McAdoo jerseys are rare, and this is the first we have ever offered. LOA from Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525
