1930s Aviation and Transportation NonSport SGC-Graded Collection (41)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,763

Collection of forty-one high-grade nonsport gum cards related to aviation and transportation from the 1930s, all graded and encapsulated by SGC, representing three different high-quality issues. This is an extremely impressive, crisp, high-grade group. These cards were all carefully chosen long ago, one card at a time, personally by our consignor from legendary collector/dealer Hugh Jones' vast inventory, with the criteria exclusively being condition. He then got them all graded by SGC. This small but exceptionally high quality selection represents the very best cards that Hugh Jones had for each of these three sets. Not surprisingly, they are in outstanding condition. 1) Circa 1930s F277-1 Heinz "Famous Airplanes" (17 cards, 14 different): #3 (VG/EX 50), 4 (GOOD 30), 5 (NM+ 86), three 6 (two NM+ 86 and one NM 84), 7 (VG/EX 50), 10 (NM/MT+ 92), 11 (VG/EX 50), two 13 (EX 60 and VG 40), 15 (EX/NM 80), 16 (VG/EX 50), 17 (EX/NM 80), 18 (NM 84), 20 (NM 84), and 23 (NM/MT 88). 2) Circa 1930s F277-4 Heinz "Famous Aviators" (7 cards): #6 (NM/MT 88), 8 (EX/NM 80), 13 Doolittle (VG/EX 50), 14 (NM/MT 88), 16 (NM/MT 88), 22 (VG 40), and 24 (NM+ 86). 3) 1933 R135-1 United Candy "Beautiful Ships" (17 cards, 14 different): #2 (NM/MT 88), 3 (NM 84), two 6 (both NM 84), 7 (NM/MT 88), two 9 (both NM 84), 11 (NM/MT 88), 12 (EX 60), two 13 (NM/MT 88 and EX 60), 14 (NM 84), 15 (EX 60), 16 (NM 84), 18 (NM 84), 19 (NM/MT+ 92), and 22 (EX 60).
