1947 R773 Indian Gum Complete Set (96)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $705
Complete set of ninety-six cards grade as follows: Ten cards range from Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, fifteen cards are Ex, fifty-one cards are Vg-Ex, ten cards are Vg, and ten cards are lesser. The set is bright and clean. We have selected seven cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC: #4 (VG/EX 50), 6 (NM 84), 20 (EX 60), 28 (VG/EX 50), 35 (EX/NM 80), 36 (VG/EX 50), and 43 (EX 60). Goudey Gum attempted to reenter the bubble-gum card market following WWII, reprinting ninety-six cards from one of its most successful sets of the 1930s, "Indian Gum." The fronts feature the very same artwork of the Indian Gum cards issued by Goudey in the 1930s. The reverse of the cards have a slightly different design than their 1930s counterparts, and are printed in black ink (as opposed to the green ink of the 1930s issue). This series represents Goudey's very last card set. This is a very attractive complete set of this colorful and historically extremely significant final Goudey issue. Total 96 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $705
