1959 Fleer "The Three Stooges" Original Display Box with Two Unopened Packs

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,938

Offered are three exceptional items relating to the 1959 Fleer "The Three Stooges" set: two unopened 5-cent wax packs, and display box that originally held twenty-four 5-cent wax packs. The two packs have been stored untouched in the original display box since 1959. The 1959 Fleer "The Three Stooges" set is considerably rarer than the 1966 set. Unopened packs and the original store display box for the 1959 set are much rarer than for the 1966 set as well. "The Three Stooges" is one of many sets Fleer produced based on television shows in the 1950s and 1960s, and which decades later still captivate the attention of collectors. Fleer's "Three Stooges" sets are among the most popular nonsport issues of the era. The two unopened wax packs are in virtually perfect condition, looking exactly as they did when they sat on a candy-store shelf in 1959. The display box has normal shelf wear, a few small pencil notations in the corner of the top of the box, and a clean two-inch tear on the top that does not affect the exceptional display value, which is bright and clean and has an overall strong Vg-Ex appearance. Also included is an additional single pack from this box that has been opened (original gum, wrapper, and six Nr/Mt-Mt cards #6, 21, 38, 54, 69, and 86). This is an impressive 1959 Fleer "Three Stooges" card-related collection, comprised of two unopened packs and a display box, which would be an ideal accompaniment to any "Three Stooges" set or collection. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,938
