Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $29,375

Presented is a 1934 R80 Novelty Gum Co. "League of Nations" display box with eighty-six original unopened one-cent wax packs. This box is one of the greatest highlights from a newly discovered find of rare unopened 1930s nonsport cards offered in this auction. This box originally held 100 one-cent wax packs. Unopened material for card sets from the 1930s is exceedingly rare. These extraordinary high-grade unopened wax packs are in virtually perfect condition, looking exactly as they did when they were sent from the Novelty Gum Co. to the gum and candy distributor in 1934. They have remained untouched in the original display box since 1934. The display box is in Excellent condition. It is extremely rare to find complete or near-complete boxes of any 1930s products in original unopened form. Also included are nine of the beautifully produced special card-storage boxes made for this issue, which are still in the counter display box exactly as designed and originally packaged, all in Mint condition. Reserve $5,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $29,375
