1909-1911 T206 Bill Dahlen - Brooklyn PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $3,819

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Brooklyn variation. One of only three examples graded at this level, with none graded higher. Dahlen was a significant star for twenty-one Major League seasons, and is one of the few players in the T206 set not in the Hall of Fame who has always widely been considered worthy of consideration. Since the days of Jefferson Burdick and before, the Dahlen, Brooklyn team-designation variation has always been recognized as one of the important rarities of the T206 set. This is a remarkably high-grade example. Most T206s, of course, have survived in far lesser condition, and when dealing with any of the few cards in the set with any degree of extra rarity, high-grade examples are of special note. It is not just by chance that this card is such a low-pop rarity according to the PSA Population Report - it is genuinely a scarce card! The offered example is extremely bright and crisp, with a flawless surface and perfect colors, and presents a strong and impressive image of Dahlen. This card has sharp corners, perfect registration, and is centered slightly to the right (approximately 55/45). The back is also bright and clean, with bold blue advertising print for Piedmont Cigarettes. In addition to being an important card in the T206 set, this card is also especially appreciated for its strong visual appeal. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as the T206 White Borders. This extraordinary card, the highest-ever graded T206 example of Dahlen, Brooklyn, would be an extremely significant addition to any high-grade T206 collection or PSA Registry set. SMR value is $3,500. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000+. SOLD FOR $3,819
