1911 T5 Pinkerton Cabinet Frank Baker

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,293

1911 T5 Pinkerton cabinet card of Hall of Famer Frank "Home Run" Baker from this classic issue, which is widely regarded as one of rarest sets ever produced in the 1910 era. Baker is featured in a throwing pose with an intense look on his face. The photo has flawless contrast and is in Excellent condition, with a couple areas of slight natural light waviness along the top (related to being affixed to the mount along the top as made). The cardboard mount is perfectly clean both front and back, and has slightly irregular cuts along the top and bottom edges (obviously original factory cuts). PSA apparently does not put numerical grades on T5 Pinkerton cabinets (they have encapsulated thirty-two examples to date, all as "Authentic"); we have not examined this card outside of its holder but it appears to us to be in strong Excellent condition. This is an extremely attractive and very rarely offered example of "Home Run" Baker from one of the rarest and most classic of all tobacco-premium issues. Encapsulated as “Authentic” by PSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,293
