1932 R328 U.S. Caramel #26 Lou Gehrig PSA NM 7
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $8,225
Graded NM 7 by PSA. One of only five examples graded at this level. Offered is a very high grade example of this classic Lou Gehrig card. This is one of Gehrig's rarest 1930s cards and one of the key cards to the U.S. Caramel set. The 1932 multsport set produced by U.S. Caramel is considerably rarer than Goudeys and most other 1930s sets, and has long been recognized as among the most desirable issues of the era. With their distinctive red backgrounds, they are also widely regarded as one of the most striking of all baseball card issues. This R328 U.S. Caramel Lou Gehrig example is extremely bright and clean; both front and back, with sharp corners showing just the slightest hint of wear at the extreme tips. Gehrig’s flawless portrait image contrasts sharply against the bold red background. Centered slightly towards the top left (approximately 35/65 L/R and 40/60 T/B). The black text on the reverse is crisp, bold, and essentially flawless. The back is centered toward the top (edge nearly touching the card number) and slightly to the right. The R328 is one of Gehrig's most popular and desirable cards, and one of the most famous and majestic cards in the collecting world. The R328 Gehrig is also far rarer than Gehrig's 1933 Goudey counterparts, especially in high grade. This is an extremely attractive high-grade example of one of Gehrig's most classic cards. SMR value is $7,500. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $8,225
