1933 R319 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth and #92 Lou Gehrig
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,700
Among the most famous of all baseball cards are those of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in the 1933 Goudey set. Presented are a classic pair: Babe Ruth (#53) and Lou Gehrig (#92) from the 1933 Goudey set, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. 1) #53 Ruth (VG-EX 4; bright, clean, crisp card with a little corner rounding, no creases, centered to the lower left, very nice mid-grade example). 2) #92 Gehrig (VG+ 3.5; bright, clean card with bold colors, well-centered, with a much stronger appearance than its assigned grade, downgraded due to light, even corner wear, and for two light creases visible only on the reverse, which may be related to the manufacturing process). These are relatively low-grade examples with outstanding eye-appeal, representing an excellent opportunity and a potentially extraordinary value for the collector who wants beautiful original 1933 Goudey Ruth and Gehrig cards at a far more affordable level than high-grade examples. Total 2 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,700
