1933 R319 Goudey Babe Ruth PSA-Graded Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $9,400
Three of the four Babe Ruth poses (#144, 149, 181) from the classic 1933 R319 Goudey series, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. 1) Card #144 graded EX 5. Bright and crisp, with light wear on the corners, no creases, and a clean reverse. A very attractive and fairly graded example of this classic 1933 Goudey Ruth. 2) Card #149 graded VG-EX 4. Striking red background, with four square corners displaying just a hint of wear, no creases, a little hint of toning on the bottom border, and a perfectly clean reverse. Crisp, clean, and very fairly graded Ruth card falling just shy of Ex. 3) Card #181 graded VG-EX 4. Centered to the right (approx. 75/25 L/R), with vibrant colors, and no creases. Extremely clean both front and back, with perfect registry. These are very attractive mid-grade (slightly better in the case of #144) examples with great eye-appeal. For the Ruth collector not interested in paying a king's ransom for cards in higher grade but who still wants very high quality original 1930-era bubble-gum cards of Ruth, or the R319 Goudey set builder seeking to fill in these three big slots, this collection presents an exceptional opportunity and represents an extraordinary value. Three very attractive cards (one of each pose) of the "Bambino" from the most popular set of the era. The SMR value for the assigned grades is $7,650. Total 3 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $9,400
