1934-1936 R327 Diamond Stars Complete Set (108)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,525

10% Ex, 30% range from Vg to Vg-Ex, 40% Gd, 20% lesser grades (many of these lesser-graded cards have a better appearance, and have been downgraded due to various flaws). This is a very attractive low- to medium-grade complete set of Diamond Stars. This classic 1930s gum-card issue is highlighted by thirty-three Hall of Famers and, of course, includes all twelve of the rare high-number series cards (#97 thru 108), which have always made this issue so difficult to complete. We have selected six cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: 1 Grove (Fr), 2 Simmons (Vg-Ex), 3 Maranville (Pr), 9 Cochrane (Gd), 11 Dickey (Fr), 14 Terry (Gd), 16 Waner (Vg), 17 Frisch (Pr), 18 Hafey (Fr), 27 Traynor (Vg-Ex), 28 Lopez (Gd), 29 Rolfe (Vg), 30 Manush (Vg), 31 Cuyler (Vg), 32 Rice (Gd), 35 Averill (Pr), 36 Lombardi (Vg), 39 Hubbell (EX 60), 43 Lyons (Vg), 44 Hornsby (VG 40), 48 Ferrell (slight trim), 50 Ott (Vg-Ex), 54 Greenberg (VG 40), 59 Bottomley (Vg-Ex), 60 Ruffing (Vg), 63 Jackson (Vg-Ex), 64 Foxx (VG 40), 66 Medwick (Gd), 74 Lazzeri (trimmed), 77 Gehringer (EX 60), 83 Waner (Gd-Vg), 91 Harris (Pr), 95 Appling (Vg-Ex), 97 Lopez (Fr-Gd), 98 high # (Gd), 99 Traynor (Vg), 100 Averill (Gd), 101 high # (Pr), 102 high # (Vg), 103 Dickey (EX 60), 104 Rolfe (Gd), 105 Lombardi (Pr), 106 high # (Vg), 107 high # (slight trim), 108 Berger (slight trim). The equivalent SMR value for just the six graded cards (not including the 102 ungraded cards) is $910. Total 108 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525
