1934 R320 Goudey #1 Jimmy Foxx PSA NM 7
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,288
Graded NM 7 by PSA. An imposing physical specimen with bulging muscles, Jimmie Foxx was more than just a slugger. In his prime he challenged Babe Ruth's single-season home-run record, won three MVP awards, and the Triple Crown. He won two World Series titles with Connie Mack's Athletics, and retired as the second leading home run hitter of all time, with 534 homers. This stunning 1934 Goudey #1 Jimmy Foxx has four sharp corners and is almost perfectly centered (just the slightest hint toward the top border, approximately 48/52 T/B), with flawless colors, and a very bold image. Even the yellow background is bright and perfect with no fade, providing ideal contrast to Foxx's image. The card is perfectly clean both front and back. All Goudeys are rare to find in Near Mint condition, but as card #1 in the 1934 Goudey set, Foxx is both a key Hall of Famer and an extremely significant condition rarity. This is a tremendous ultra high-grade example of one of the 1930s most classic bubble-gum cards and, in the opinion of many collectors, Foxx's most popular and important card. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $5,288
