1933 R306 Butter Cream Collection (28) Including 18 Different

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $3,819

Outstanding collection of twenty-eight cards (including eighteen different of the thirty in the set) from the R306 Butter Cream set, one of the most unusual and rare issues of the 1930s, and one of the most desirable sets of any era. Highlighted by twelve Hall of Famers, this is an incredibly substantial group of R306s. Cards from this set usually have to be collected one at a time due to their extreme rarity. Large groups are almost never seen. This partial set represents a very significant opportunity for collectors interested in completing this elusive issue, which has been an almost impossible feat for so many serious collectors in the past. Only a few complete sets of R306s have ever been assembled. The eighteen different of the total of twenty-eight cards in this lot represent more than half of the set. Six cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The collection consists of the following: Cochrane (HOF, Fr-Gd), Gelbert (Gd), Hartnett (HOF, Fr-Gd), two Herman (PSA VG 3 and Fr), Klein (HOF, PSA PR-FR 1 [MK]), two Lindstrom (HOF, Vg and Fr), two Lyons (HOF, Gd and Fr), Martin (Gd), three O'Farrell (Vg, PSA PR-FR 1, Pr), Rommel (Gd), two Root (Vg-Ex and PSA PR-FR 1), two Ruel (Gd and Fr), Simmons (HOF, PSA GOOD 2), Terry (HOF, Pr), two Uhle (both Gd), two L. Waner (HOF, both Gd), P. Waner (HOF, PSA PR-FR 1), and two Wright (Vg and Fr). All of the cards in this lot have an appearance superior to their technically accurate assigned grades. This is a tremendous collection of cards from one of the rarest and most interesting of all 1930s issues. From the Charlie Conlon Collection. Total 28 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $3,819
