1950-1956 Callahan Hall of Fame Ed Barrow - SGC MINT 96

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $353

Graded MINT 96 by SGC. Highest graded! Ultra high-grade example of Ed Barrow from the classic Callahan Hall of Fame card set, the official set of the Hall of Fame, issued annually from 1950 to 1956. Each year of issue the new inductees were added to the set. Barrow was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1953 so his card was produced for only a few years. That is why his card is particularly hard to find. It was, naturally, not included with Callahan Hall of Fame sets sold prior to his induction. Barrow is one of the most important baseball figures of the early twentieth century. He is responsible for discovering Honus Wagner, switching Babe Ruth from the mound to the outfield, and as the general manager, he single-handedly orchestrated the New York Yankees baseball dynasty. This is a razor-sharp example of one of the few cards featuring this legendary baseball figure. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,400. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $353
