1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,880
1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle, graded "Authentic" by BVG (Beckett). This low-grade example represents a rare opportunity for the collector who wants a real 1952 Topps Mantle at an affordable level. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the 1952 Topps set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable postwar baseball card. Despite the obvious condition problems of this example, the card is clean, the colors are bright, and the portrait is bold. This card has been trimmed (on all four sides, with an irregular cut along the left border) and therefore has been encapsulated as "Authentic" by BVG as opposed to being assigned a numerical grade. There is also a single piece of clear tape on the front and the reverse has two areas of paper residue from scrapbook removal. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $1,880
