1959 Fleer Ted Williams & 1963 Fleer Complete Sets (2 sets)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,410

Collection of two complete Fleer sets (1959 and 1963). Both of these sets are clean and attractive. These Fleer sets are far scarcer than Topps sets of this same era, and the excellent value they offer collectors is beginning to be widely appreciated. The 1959 Fleer set includes the rare #68 "Ted Signs" card, and the 1963 set includes two examples of the scarce #46 Joe Adcock and the extremely rare checklist card. 1) 1959 Fleer Complete Set (80 cards): 80% grade Ex to Ex-Mt (with a few better), 20% Vg to Vg-Ex. Keys: #1 Early Years (Vg), 2 Williams/Ruth (Ex-Mt), 11 Williams/Foxx (Ex), 17 Ted Hit .400 (90/10 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt), 19 Triple Crown (90/10 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt), 39 Williams/Cronin/E. Collins (Ex-Mt), 63 All-Star Record (Ex-Mt), 67 Williams/Snead (Ex), 68 Ted Signs (irregular cut on all four sides, appears to be sheet-cut, otherwise Ex), 70 Williams/Thorpe (Ex), 75 Williams/Ruth/Collins (Ex), and 80 Ted's Goals (Ex). 2) 1963 Fleer Complete Set (set of 67 plus extra #46 Adcock for 68 cards): 28 cards are Ex-Mt or better, 18 cards are Ex, 18 cards appear Nr/Mt but are clearly shorter than the other cards in the set, and 4 cards are slightly lesser. Keys: #4 B. Robinson (10/90 T/B with a slight diamond cut, otherwise Ex), 5 Mays (80/20 T/B, otherwise Ex), 8 Yastrzemski (Nr/Mt), 41 Drysdale (Ex), 42 Koufax (Ex), 43 Wills RC (trimmed), 45 Spahn (Nr/Mt), 46a Adcock SP (30/70 L/R with a slight diamond cut, otherwise Nr/Mt), 46b Adcock (Ex), 56 Clemente (Ex-Mt), 61 Gibson (miscut along the left border and 10/90 T/B, otherwise Vg-Ex), Checklist (unchecked, Nr/Mt). Total 148 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,410
