1966 Topps Complete Set (598) with 48 PSA- and SGC-Graded Cards

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,113

Grades 35% Nr/Mt or better, 50% Ex/Mt, 15% Ex (includes just a few lesser). Sharp, fresh, high-grade complete 1966 Topps set. After he won the Most Valuable Player award in 1965, Topps saw fit to honor Willie Mays with the card #1 position in the 1966 set. This classic set is also well known for the scarcity of the high-number series, with many single-printed cards, in addition to being the only Topps set to feature Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays on the same card (#215). Of the 598 cards in the set, forty-eight cards (7%) have been professionally graded and encapsulated NM 7 by PSA (forty-one cards) and SGC (seven cards), including the many key cards (Mantle, Clemente, Mays, Aaron, McCovey, and Perry). The PSA grades are as follows: Forty-eight NM 7 (seven cards graded by SGC as noted): #1 Mays, 12, 13, 15, 17, 24, 29, 50 Mantle, 70 Yastrzemski (SGC VG 40), 100 Koufax (SGC EX/NM 80), 120 Killebrew (SGC NM 84), 126 Palmer RC (SGC NM 84), 133, 139, 141, 142, 143, 144, 146, 151, 152, 156, 160 Ford (SGC NM 84), 173, 188, 200 Mathews (SGC NM 84), 215 NL Batting LDRS (SGC EX/NM 80), 221 NL ERA LDRS (Koufax), 255 Stargell, 300 Clemente, 305, 346, 352, 359, 365 Maris, 376, 380, 386 Hodges, 425, 455 Lolich, 469 Murcer RC, 500 Aaron, 526 Twins team, 535 Davis SP, 536, 550 McCovey SP, 586, and 598 Perry SP.
