1975 Topps Mini #228 George Brett PSA Gem Mint 10
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $5,288
Graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA. Only six of the 1,462 Brett rookie cards submitted to PSA from the 1975 Topps Mini set have been assigned this top grade of GEM MINT; it seems fitting that one of these six gems was squirreled away in Charlie Conlon's collection, probably graded for fun and kept as a souvenir. This is the ultimate high-grade example of Hall of Famer and 3000 Hit Club member George Brett. The 1975 Topps Mini set is prone to many different problems, including centering issues, print quality, and corner and edge chipping. This card is essentially perfect in all respects. The centering is virtually perfect. All four corners are razor-sharp. The corners exhibit no wear or chipping whatsoever, even under extreme magnification, which is particularly remarkable. The gloss is perfect. To top it off, the print quality is flawless. This is a spectacular rookie card example of one of the greatest hitters of his era. Gem Mint condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $5,288
