Circa 1930s Honus Wagner Signed Christmas Card
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,645
Christmas card signed by Hall of Fame shortstop Honus Wagner. Though undated, based on both the style of the Christmas card and the signature, we believe this card dates from the 1930s. Wagner's signature, penned "J. Honus Wagner," has been executed in black fountain pen and grades "9." This is an exceptionally large Wagner signature, measuring a full four inches in length, and one that contrasts beautifully against the light surface of the card. Wagner was one of the first five inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame and although his signature is not rare, the demand far outweighs the supply, especially with respect to high-grade examples on special items with extraordinary display value such as this impressive example. The multicolor Christmas card (5.5 x 3.5 inches) has only minor surface and corner wear, and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. This is an outstanding and unique Wagner-signed item and one that is ideal for display. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,645
