1948 Ty Cobb Signed Check to American Red Cross

Personal check, dated March 4, 1948, signed by Hall of Fame outfielder Ty Cobb. The check, drawn on the First National Bank of Nevada, is made out to the "American Red Cross" in the amount of $10 and is boldly signed “Tyrus R. Cobb” in his customary green ink (grading “10”). An American Red Cross stamped endorsement appears on the reverse. Cobb’s name is preprinted along the left border. The check (8.25 x 3 inches) has normal bank cancellation stamps and perforations, as well as a light vertical fold (barely noticeable) that touches upon the "T" in "Tyrus." In Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $1,175
