Circa 1935 Babe Ruth Single-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $9,988
Wilson Official American Association (Trautman) ball magnificently signed in black fountain pen across the sweet spot by Babe Ruth. The signature has been boldly scripted and grades a strong "7" or "8." George M. Trautman was president of the American Association from 1935 through 1944, thus allowing us to narrowly date the ball to that nine-year span. Given that time frame, it's even remotely possible that Ruth may have signed this ball in 1935 during his final Major League season. While we will never know the exact circumstances regarding the ball's signing, we can be sure of one thing: this is an outstanding Ruth signed ball and one that beautifully showcases the most desirable signature in all of sports. The ball is lightly toned, with a few tiny surface abrasions (none of which affect the Ruth signature) and all of the manufacturer's stampings are light, but clearly legible. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000.
