Larry Lajoie Signed Black-and-White Hall of Fame Postcard

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,058

Black-and-white (Artvue) Hall of Fame postcard of Larry Lajoie signed and dated in blue ink on the front. Lajoie's signature (grading "10") appears along the top border, with the date (also in Lajoie's hand), "3-19-54" (grading “10”) located in the bottom border. Lajoie has also signed the reverse in blue ink; however, the second signature on the reverse was once covered by a piece of tape that has since been removed. The tape removal on the reverse resulted in minor surface paper loss, which, naturally, also affected the second signature (grading "4/5"). Nap Lajoie was seventy-eight years old at the time this card was signed and he passed away fours years later, in 1959. This is an outstanding dual-signed and dated example of one of the key stars among signed Hall of Fame postcards. The postcard (3.5 x 5.5 inches) displays a tiny ink smudge in the upper right corner as well as minor corner wear in the upper and lower left, and is otherwise in Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,058
