1964 St. Louis Cardinals World Champions Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $529
Official National League (Giles) ball signed in varying shades of blue ink by the following thirty-one members of the 1964 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals: Schoendienst (coach, sweet spot), Gibson, Brock, Keane (Mgr., sweet spot), Flood, Boyer, Buchek, Javier, James, Simmons, Schultz, Skinner, Bakenhaster, Cuellar, Washburn, White, Maxvill, Groat, Shannon, Sadecki, Warwick, McCarver, Spiezio, Benson (coach), Milliken (coach), Craig, Humphreys, Taylor, Uecker, Pollet (coach), and Schultz (coach). The Ken Boyer signature is the strongest signature on the ball, grading “9” (and is in a different ink than the other signatures); otherwise, all of the remaining signatures are fairly uniform in grade, averaging “7.” This ball originates from the personal collection of Bob Bauman, who was a longtime Major League trainer with both the St. Louis Browns (1937-1953) and St. Louis Cardinals (1954-1988), and has been consigned to this auction directly by his son. (A total of eighty-four team-signed baseballs from the Bauman Collection, offered in twelve separate lots, are featured in this current auction.) The ball is in exceptional Near-Mint condition. Its remarkable provenance and condition notwithstanding, this is also a rare championship team-signed ball and one of the most complete examples we have ever seen. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $529
