Extraordinary Multi-Signed Hall of Fame Bat with Mantle and Williams (100+ Signatures!)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,113
Commemorative Hall of Fame display bat, manufactured by the Cooperstown Bat Company, signed in blue Sharpie by an astounding 104 of the greatest players in baseball history. This is one of the most extraordinary signed bats ever! Ninety-four of the signers are already enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, while the remaining ten are all worthy candidates for future consideration. It would probably be impossible to justify in purely economic terms the time and expense that has been invested in the creation of this unique signing project over a period many years. Its creation has obviously been a labor of love. Just the travel expenses alone represent literally thousands of dollars. Multi-signed bats bearing this many Hall of Fame signatures are extremely rare and it must be noted that more than one-third of the players represented here (34) are now deceased. This a remarkable signed display piece and one that would be impossible to duplicate today. Six of the players have signed the bat twice (noted in parentheses). Hall of Fame Players: Aaron, Anderson, Aparicio, Appling, Banks, Barlick, Bell, Bench, Berra (twice), Boggs, Boudreau, Brett, Brock, Bunning (twice), Carew, Carter, Chandler, Cepeda (twice), Conlan, Dandridge, Doby, Doerr, Drysdale, Eckersley, Feller (twice), Ferrell, Fingers, Fisk, Ford (twice), Gomez, Gossage, Gwynn, Henderson, Herman, Hubbell, Hunter, Irvine, R. Jackson, J. Johnson, Jenkins, Kaline, Kell, Killebrew, Kiner, Koufax, Lasorda, Lemon, Leonard, Lopez, Lee MacPhail, Mantle, Marichal, Mathews, Mays, Mazeroski, McCovey, Mize, Molitor, Morgan, Murray, Musial, Newhouser, Niekro, Palmer, Perez, Reese, J. Rice, Ripken, Rizzuto, Roberts, B. Robinson, F. Robinson, Ryan, Sandberg, Schmidt, Schoendienst, Seaver, Slaughter, Smith, Snider, Spahn, Stargell, Sutter, Sutton, Terry, Weaver, Wilhelm (twice), B. Williams, D. Williams, T. Williams, Winfield, Wynn, Yastrzemski, and Yount. Non Hall of Fame Players: Roberto Alomar, Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddox, Buck O'Neill, Alex Rodriguez, Ivan Rodriguez, Pete Rose, Lee Smith, and Joe Torre. The signatures range in grade from "7" to "10," averaging "8/9," with the exception of one of the Feller signatures and one of the Ford signatures (each grading "2"). A small white label appears on the end of the barrel and a piece of tape has been affixed to the knob, otherwise the bat is in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,113
