Circa 1885 American Association Scorecard Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,293

Each of these three 1885 American Association scorecards was issued for a Brooklyn home game and features a portrait photo of an individual Brooklyn player on the cover. All of the scorecards are of the fold-over variety, are from the same series (very much like a set of cards), and measure 3.75 x 6 inches. Each has been neatly scored in pencil and also displays a few additional interior pencil notations, including the respective date of each game. (Research has verified the accuracy of each date with regard to the score of the game, with the exception of the postseason exhibition game.) All display either one or both of the preprinted lineups in the form of an affixed sheet (as issued). 1) 1885 Brooklyn vs. Philadelphia; Bill Krieg on the cover. The preprinted lineups include Stovey, Larkin, and O'Brien for Philadelphia, and Pickney, McClellan, Swartwood and Harkins for Brooklyn. The scorecard records a 10-8 win for Brooklyn. The date "Aug 7/85" is written in pencil on the interior. Ex. 2) 1885 Brooklyn vs. New York; Charlie Hackett (Mgr.) on the cover. The preprinted lineups include Ward, Welch, Connor, and Richardson for New York, and Pinkney, Swartwood, Hotaling, and McTamany for Brooklyn. The scorecard records a 6-2 win for New York. The date "Oct 20/85" is written in pencil on the interior, indicating that this was a postseason exhibition game. Vg. 3) 1886 Brooklyn vs. New York; George Smith on the cover. The preprinted lineups include Nelson, Orr, and Foster for New York, and Pinkney, Phillips, Terry, and McClelland for Brooklyn. The scorecard records a 5-3 win for Brooklyn. The date "June 18/86" is written in pencil on the interior. Ex. Total: 3 scorecards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $1,293
