1926 Lambert & Butler "Who's Who In Sports" Near-Complete Set (46/50): #1 PSA Set Registry!

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,938

Stunning ultra high-grade near-complete set of 1926 Lambert & Butler "Who's Who In Sports" cards. Missing just four cards for completion (#34, 36, 38, and 48). This is currently the finest set in the world and the number-one set on the PSA Registry! The set was produced by the England-based company Lambert and Butler. Cards from this set feature black-and-white photos of the greatest athletes of the day from their respective sport, such as the rookie card of the legendary Bobby Jones, considered by many to be the "Babe Ruth" of golf. Bobby Jones's greatest achievement was winning the "Grand Slam" of golf in 1930 (the Open Championship, the U.S. Open Championship, the United States Men's Amateur Golf Championship, and the British Amateur Championship). The entire near-set of forty-six cards has been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The set includes one MINT 9, one NM-MT+ 8.5 (Jones), eleven NM-MT 8s, one NM+ 7.5, sixteen NM 7s, ten EX-MT 6s, and six EX 5s. The PSA registry overall weighted GPA rating is 6.85. The PSA grades are as follows: One MINT 9: #3 Tunney. One NM-MT+ 8.5: #2 Jones RC (one of just two examples graded at this level by PSA, with only two graded higher). Eleven NM-MT 8: #7, 9, 12, 14, 18, 23, 30, 35, 37, 39, and 44. One NM+ 7.5: #1 Rosenberg. Sixteen NM 7: #5, 6, 8, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 28, 31, 32, 33, 40, 42 Lacoste, and 45. Ten EX-MT 6: #4, 10, 13, 15, 16, 26, 29, 41, 46, and 50 (last card in the set). Six EX 5: #11, 21, 27, 43, 47, and 49. Many of these cards are the highest (27 cards) or second-highest (11 cards) graded examples in the PSA Population Report. This is an extraordinary high-grade set, the current finest on the PSA Registry, of this extremely attractive 1920s multi sport card issue. The SMR value for just the four golf cards, including Bobby Jones (not including the forty-two other cards in the set) is $2,775 (since there are no values listed for NM-MT+ 8.5 grades in the SMR, the Jones card was calculated with the NM-MT 8 value). Total 46 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000.
