1971 Bazooka Hockey Panel #19-21
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $705
Incredibly rare 1971 Bazooka Hockey three-card panel featuring #19 Unger, 20 Bouchard, and 21 Edwards. 1971 Bazooka Hockey cards are much rarer than their baseball counterparts. In fact, while this panel at a glance might seem to be an unlikely candidate for a lot, the fact that we could not find records of any examples offered or any past sales ever convinced us that this set was much rarer than we could have even imagined. We could not even find another panel. This panel has been graded "Authentic" by PSA. Bazooka panels were intended to be cut by hand from the back of Bazooka boxes. Panels on which the black dotted line has been disturbed at any place are automatically assigned an "Authentic" label by PSA, as opposed to a numerical grade. We are actually quite surprised this panel did not receive a numerical grade from PSA because the hand cut is very well done with all the dotted lines clearly showing, and with large margins around the perimeter of the cards. The panel is otherwise in Excellent condition with each of the three interior cards in Near Mint to Mint condition. In the entire history of PSA, this is the only uncut 1971 Bazooka Hockey panel to ever be submitted to be encapsulated! The PSA population report shows a grand total of eighteen individually hand-cut cards have also been encapsulated. This compares with 14,066 1971 O-Pee-Chee Hockey cards and 11,162 1971 Topps Hockey cards. This is a very clean and impressive example of this unusual, obviously underrated, and apparently simply incredibly rare Bazooka Hockey Bubble Gum package-design uncut panel. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $705
