1910 T212 Obak "175 Subjects" Near-Complete Set (167 of 175)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,994

Near-complete set of 1910 T212 Obak Cigarettes cards (175 Subjects), consisting of 167 of the 175 cards in the set. Missing just eight cards for completion (Brackenridge, Flood, McCredie, Ort, H. Smith, Tennant, Thompson, Williams). Obaks are among the most popular of all early card issues featuring players from the Pacific Coast League. While catalogued simply as T212, Obaks were actually issued over a period of three years, from 1909 to 1911, and are really three sets. The offered 1910 Obak set (which has 175 cards), in addition to featuring players from the six PCL teams, also features players from the four-team Northwestern League. The 1910 set cards are easily distinguished by the blue printing on their backs in a less ornate font than the 1909 cards. 65% of the cards in this collection range from Gd to Vg (includes a few Vg-Ex), and 35% range from Fr to Fr-Gd. Most of the cards are bright and crisp, with vibrant colors, and with a much better appearance than suggested by their modest technically accurate grades. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a relatively affordable yet still extremely attractive near-complete set of these early classics. Total 167 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $4,994
