1910-1912 T215 Red Cross Tobacco Type 1 - Rube Marquard
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,645
Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Highest-graded example! The T215 Red Cross set is an extremely rare tobacco-card set believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, and which has much in common with the T206 “White Border” set. Offered is an exceptional sample card of Hall of Fame member Rube Marquard (pitching pose). This is an outstanding and particularly attractive card in all respects, and is simply superior to what is normally found for Red Cross Tobacco. This card looks to us to be in Excellent condition. This is a stunning card, bright and clean, with vibrant colors, and four square corners. The reverse is relatively clean and with bold crisp print, both ideal qualities for a sample of this scarce issue. The slight tilt to the image or the few extremely light hints of foxing (barely detectable and of no consequence at all) on the reverse are likely responsible for the card being downgraded from Excellent. PSA has graded only twenty-four examples of T215 Red Cross (Type I) to date. It is rare to find any T215 Red Cross Tobacco in any grade, let alone an exceptionally strong and attractive example of a Hall of Famer. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,645
