1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders SGC-Graded Collection (6)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,528

Collection of six high-grade 1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders, each graded and encapsulated EX/NM 80 by SGC (except one EX 60). Highlighted by four Hall of Famers including Walter Johnson and Tris Speaker, and one future “Black Sox” member. This is a very attractive and high-grade collection for this classic tobacco issue. Most cards appear Nr/Mt at a glance and have been downgraded only due to the extremely minor flaws which are so common to the issue. The thin stock makes them especially susceptible to very light corner rounding. The collections consists of the following: Gardner/Speaker (HOF), Johnson/Street (HOF; EX 60), Walsh/Payne (HOF), Jennings/Summer (HOF), Cicotte/Thoney (“Black Sox”), and McBride/Elberfeld (designated as "Lionel Carter Collection"). These cards are naturally prone to wear and rarely found in extremely high grade. T201s are one of the most substantial and uniquely designed sets ever produced, and represent one of the best values of all 1910-era baseball tobacco issues. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $2,720. Total 6 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,528
