Two 1909-1911 T206 Kid Elberfeld - Washington, Portraits (Two Different Ad Backs)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,410

Two extremely attractive examples of the rare 1909-1911 T206 White Border "Washington" team variation of Kid Elberfeld (portrait), one with a Piedmont reverse, the other with an Old Mill advertising back. This card has always been recognized as one of the key rarities of the T206 White Borders tobacco-card series. Offered are two examples of this important T206 rarity, each graded and encapsulated VG 40 by SGC. 1) Old Mill advertisement on the reverse. The card is centered to the left (approximately 30/70 L/R), with light wear on the corners, and a striking red background. Solid Ex card downgraded for a light surface wrinkle above his left shoulder (barely detectable) and two rubber band marks on the middle right edge. 2) Piedmont advertisement. Well centered, with even corner wear, and a couple light creases in the lower left corner. Either one of these two cards would serve as a significant addition to any near-complete T206 collection. Two very attractive, conservatively graded examples of one of the rarest cards in the classic T206 White Border set. Total 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
