1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Bat Off - Sovereign back

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,880

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. A very attractive example of this classic tobacco card of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, with a Sovereign back. Sovereign is a scarce back, certainly not in the same league as Drum or Uzit, but very unusual and seen far less often than the standard Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertising backs. The T206 Ty Cobb bat-off-shoulder pose is one of the key cards in the set. Bright and crisp, with bold colors, even wear to the corners, and centered 35/65 left to right. The Sovereign reverse is clean with no tobacco stains. This is a very attractive example of the "Georgia Peach" from the most popular set of the era. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,880
