1911 T205 Gold Border Walter Johnson SGC EX 60

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,175

Graded EX 60 by SGC. The T205 Gold Border Hall of Famer Walter Johnson is one of the key cards in the T205 set. We have found this card to be considerably scarcer than many other cards in the set, and the population reports support this observation. The T205 Walter Johnson is also considered by many to be one of his most attractive cards. The offered example has virtually perfect registration and vibrant colors. Johnson's portrait contrasts sharply against the bright red background. This is a sharp-looking card, with light, even wear on the corners. Centered 30/70 left to right and 55/45 top to bottom. Heavy, even toning on the reverse. We grade this card Vg-Ex/Ex, very slightly lower than SGC. Advertising for Sweet Caporal Cigarettes on the back. As of this writing, of the 108 T205 Johnsons graded in the history of SGC, there have been just one NM+ 86s, two NM 84s, three EX/NM 80s, and three EX+ 70s. This is a very attractive high-grade example of one of the key cards from the classic T205 set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,175
