1911 T205 Gold Border Christy Mathewson

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $705

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Very attractive Christy Mathewson card from the T205 Gold Borders, one of the most popular of all 1910-era tobacco issues, in an extremely desirable grade. Bright, crisp, and clean. The card displays light wear on the corners, and only the most minute hint of chipping to the extreme edges of the borders; otherwise the easily chipped gold borders are virtually flawless. Centered slightly towards the bottom left. The reverse of the card is also exceptionally bright and clean with crisp, bold red text. Advertising for Sweet Caporal on reverse. This is a very attractive example of the legendary Christy Mathewson from one of collecting's most popular and condition-sensitive sets. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $705
