1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle - PSA EX 5 - Rookie

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,819

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Very attractive example of Mickey Mantle's true rookie card in Excellent condition. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Bowman rookie card is the key to the 1951 Bowman set, and one of the most popular of all postwar baseball cards. The text on the reverse only hints at his future place in history. ("Mickey is the Yankee rookie of whom so much is expected in 1951. Everyone was talking about him in spring training...") This striking example has even wear on the corners, a light paper wrinkle in the upper left, and 70/30 centering L/R and 25/75 T/B. Crisp and bright colors. Clean front and back. Perfect registration and with no distracting print lines as is so commonly found with this card. This is a very appealing example in Excellent condition of one of Mantle's most desirable and significant cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,819
