1887 N172 Old Judge Connie Mack

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,938

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Extremely desirable 1887 N172 Old Judge of Connie Mack (hands-on-knees pose) dating from his playing days as a catcher with the Washington Nationals. There are only three poses of Connie Mack in the Old Judge set. All are rare and very highly prized by collectors. In our experience, we have found this hands-on-knees catching pose to be the rarest of the three. This is a tremendous-looking card with an appearance far superior to its SGC-assigned grade. It has been downgraded from Vg-Ex by SGC solely due to remnants on the reverse from having long ago been glued into a scrapbook and carefully removed (this is very common with Old Judges). Particularly attractive card with exceptional contrast. Bright, clean, and very well centered. This card is a gem that would be a significant addition to any advanced Old Judge or Hall of Famer collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,938
