1963 Fleer Complete PSA-Graded Set (67)
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $11,750
Extraordinary high-grade complete set of all sixty-seven cards (# 1 through 66 plus the unnumbered checklist card). This is one of the highest-graded 1963 Fleer sets ever assembled in the history of collecting! Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The average grade is 8.73. The set includes forty-nine PSA 9s, four PSA 8.5s, and fourteen PSA 8s. This no small feat, especially when considering that centering problems are so very common with this issue. A set of this extraordinary quality can only be assembled as a labor of love, combined with a lot of hard work, patience, and, of course, investment. Fortunately, the work is done; the set is complete; and all are graded. It is now time for the torch to be passed on this outstanding collecting achievement. This is a magnificent set. The 1963 Fleer set is considered by many to be among the most attractive as well as significant issues of the early 1960s. These cards have long been a special favorite of collectors, and with good reason: They are far rarer than Topps issues from the era; they are unusual; they have a great significance to the history of the "bubblegum-card wars"; they are relatively few in number and they include so many great stars from the golden era of the early 1960s. The fact that this set is very challenging to collect in high grade, and has a rare checklist card which is extremely difficult to find in high grade, gives this set a mystique and even greater appeal to serious collectors. 1963 Fleer are never going out of style with advanced collectors. This is one of the premier sets of the 1960s. Our consignor is a longtime collector who has always especially appreciated the 1963 Fleer set. The offered set is the result of many years of collecting effort and upgrading. The PSA grades are as follows: Forty-nine MINT 9: #1 Barber, 3, 4 B. Robinson (HOF), 7, 8 Yastrzemski (HOF), 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 23, 24, 25 Richardson, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32 Santo, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 Drysdale (HOF), 42 Koufax (HOF), 43 Wills (rookie), 44, 45 Spahn (HOF), 46 Adcock (short print), 47, 48, 49, 52, 55, 57, 59 Mazeroski (HOF), 60 Boyer, 61 Gibson (HOF), 62, 63 White, 65, and 66 O'Dell (last card in set).
