1971 Topps PSA-Graded Complete Set: #16 PSA Set Registry
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $10,575
Offered is an extraordinary high-grade complete set of 1971 Topps baseball cards. The black flush-to-the-border design of the 1971 Topps set makes this issue particularly challenging to collect in extremely high grade. This is one of the finest sets of this popular 1970s issue we have ever seen or offered. All 752 cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. Included is one MINT 9, one NM-MT+ 8.5, 372 NM-MT 8s, four NM+ 7.5s, and 374 NM 7. This set is currently registered as the 16th set on the PSA Set Registry with an average grade of 7.46. The grades for the entire set can easily be accessed online on the PSA Set Registry under "REA Spring 2010." The PSA grades are as follows: One card is graded MINT 9: #330 (OC). One card is graded NM-MT+ 8.5: #570 Palmer (HOF). 372 cards are graded NM-MT 8: including #50 McCovey (HOF), 160 Seaver (HOF), 180 Kaline (HOF), 210 Carew (HOF), 400 Aaron (HOF), 525 Banks (HOF), 530 Yastrzemski (HOF), 550 Killebrew (HOF), 600 Mays (HOF), 630 Clemente (HOF), and 650 Allen SP (OC). Four cards are graded NM+ 7.5: #63, 328, 696, and 717. 374 cards are graded NM 7: including #5 Munson, 20 Jackson (HOF), 26 Blyleven RC, 55 Carlton (HOF), 100 Rose, 300 B. Robinson (HOF), 341 Garvey RC, 380 T. Williams (HOF), 513 Ryan (HOF), 625 Brock (HOF), 640 F. Robinson (HOF), 688 Anderson SP (HOF), 700 Powell SP, 709 Baylor/Baker RC, and 740 Aparicio SP (HOF). This set has been assembled with great care over a period of many years, with a concern for all factors, but with a special consideration for overall eye-appeal, which is evident throughout. Also please note that, as is the case with all cards in this entire auction, none of these cards have been submitted for review for the recently introduced PSA half-grades. There is no question that a great number of these cards would be awarded higher half-grades if submitted for review. This is an extraordinary high-grade complete set of one of the most condition-sensitive of all card sets from any era. One of the finest sets that we have ever offered of this classic Topps issue. The total SMR value for the individual cards exceeds $12,000. Total 752 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$8,000+. SOLD FOR $10,575
