1972 O-Pee-Chee Baseball Complete Set (525) with 44 PSA-Graded Cards

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,525

Extremely attractive ultra high-grade complete 525-card set of 1972 O-Pee-Chee baseball cards. This is a pack-fresh set that was obviously assembled long ago from cards pulled and sorted directly from unopened packs or a case. 90% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (with a few Mint cards) and 10% Ex-Mt (may include a few slightly lesser). Of the 525 cards in the set, forty-four (8%) have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA, including the many key cards (Aaron, Mays, Clemente, and Fisk). The PSA grades are as follows: Seventeen MINT 9: #47, 80 Perez, 87, 94, 111, 198, 251, 258, 282, 309 Clemente, 365, 405, 420 Carlton, 433 Bench, 460 (OC), 474, and 480. Four NM-MT+ 8.5: #78, 106, 118, and 290. Twenty-three NM-MT 8: #15, 37 Yastrzemski, 38 Yastrzemski IA, 49 Mays, 51 Killebrew, 72, 75, 79 Fisk RC, 88, 91, 205, 241 Fingers, 300 Aaron IA (OC), 310 Clemente IA, 366, 380, 383, 436 Jackson IA, 442 Munson IA, 445 Seaver, 448 Stargell IA, 458, and 461. Ungraded keys: #299 Aaron (10/90 L/R otherwise Nr/Mt) and 435 Jackson (30/70 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt). O-Pee-Chee baseball cards were issued regionally only in Canada and are much rarer than their American counterparts. They are particularly rare to find in complete set form. In fact, this is the first complete set of 1972 O-Pee-Chee that we can even recall ever offering. This is a beautiful ultra high grade set of this fascinating, overlooked, and scarce issue. Total 525 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525
