The 1974 Topps "Deckle Edge" set was a test issue which received very limited distribution only in the Massachusetts area. Sets of this test issue are rarely offered. This near-set features two "white backs" variety cards, which are somewhat scarcer than the "gray backs." Featured in the set are all the major stars of the day, including Aaron, Jackson, Seaver, F. Robinson, and Bench, to name just a few. When these cards were issued, as their name implies, they were cut with "deckle edges." The cards in this group are proof versions with straight edges hand cut from sheets. This is an extremely rare near-complete proof set of one of the most popular Topps test sets of the era. Total 59 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
