Autographed 1957 Topps Baseball-Card Collection (332)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,700

1957 Topps collection of 332 different autographed cards of the 407 cards in the set, representing 81% of the complete set signed. Included here are sixty-six of the eighty-seven scarce mid-series cards in the set (numbers 265-352) and fourteen Hall of Famers: Aparicio, Roberts, Mazeroski, Herzog, Wynn, D. Williams, Ashburn, Doby, Lemon, Kaline, Schoendienst, Slaughter, Kell, and Bunning. Also included is a signed example of the rare Baker error card (#176) and two examples of card #22 Snyder: one signed by Snyder and the other signed by Snyder and Fitzgerald (Fitzgerald is actually pictured on the card). All of the cards have been signed, in a variety of inks, on the front, with the signatures ranging from "6" to "10," averaging "8/9" (approximately twenty-five signatures grade lesser than "6"). Ten of the signatures are either covered with clear tape or were once covered with clear tape which has since been removed, leaving an adhesive residue on the card (#36, 62, 92, 124, 132, 192, 220, 306, 312, and 398). The seventy-five cards NOT represented here are card numbers 1, 2, 10, 18, 20, 25, 30, 34, 35, 38, 55, 66, 67, 75, 76, 80, 82, 90, 95, 96, 97, 100, 108, 114, 115, 128, 129, 134, 135, 153, 161, 164, 179, 171, 175, 183, 188, 198, 204, 210, 214, 225, 243, 244, 250, 251, 267, 268, 270, 271, 275, 276, 277, 286, 288, 295, 301, 302, 307, 317, 321, 322, 324, 329, 336, 337, 341, 352, 354, 359, 361, 383, 400, 405, and 407. This is a very substantial collection with many highlights, and an outstanding start toward the assembly a completely signed set of one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. The cards are fairly uniform in grade, averaging Ex. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 333 signed cards (332 different plus an extra signed example of card number 22). Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $4,700
