Original circa 1914 Charles Conlon press photo capturing Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson as a member of the Washington Senators. This is an extraordinary original photograph of Walter Johnson by the universally recognized master of baseball photography. The fabled "Big Train" is pictured here warming up on the sidelines prior to a game, displaying the pitching form that made him the bane of American League batters for nearly two decades. Reverse markings include Conlon's handwritten pencil notations ("Walter Johnson/Washington/In his prime") and a "The Ring, Inc." proprietary stamp. Based upon the uniform style pictured here, this photo dates between the years 1912 through 1915 (according to the Baseball Hall of Fame Uniform Database). The photo (6.25 x 8.5 inches), which presents with flawless clarity and contrast, displays a tiny chip in the upper left corner and minor border wear; it is otherwise in Excellent condition. Accompanied by an LOA from PSA/DNA identifying it as a "Type 1 - 1st Generation" photo taken by Charles Conlon.
