1917-1925 World Series Program Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,763

Collection of three early and highly prized World Series programs, technically in modest grade due to mostly very minor flaws (as is frequently the case with early World Series programs) but still with integrity intact and all very worthy additions to any advanced collection: 1) 1917 New York Giants (vs. Chicago White Sox). Twenty-eight pages. The preprinted lineups for Chicago include Collins and Schalk, plus all eight players who were later banned from baseball for "throwing" the 1919 World Series: Jackson Cicotte, Weaver, Risberg, Gandil, McMullen, Williams, and McMullen. Neatly scored in pencil for Game 2; recording a 2-0 victory for Chicago. The program (9.25 x 11 inches) displays a vertical fold, partial separation along the spine, numerous edge tears and/or abrasions, and tape reinforcement along the spine on the two center pages. Good condition overall. 2) 1923 New York Yankees (vs. New York Giants). Twenty pages. The preprinted lineups include Ruth, B. Meusel, Pennock, Pipp, Ward, and Scott for the Yankees, and Bancroft, Frisch, Youngs, and Kelly for the Giants. Neatly scored in pencil for Game 5; recording an 8-1 victory for the Yankees. The program (9.25 x 11) displays a vertical fold as well as numerous edge tears and creases, including tears on the back cover and last page that have resulted in paper loss. Good condition overall. 3) 1925 Washington Senators (vs. Pittsburgh Pirates). Sixty-four pages; lavishly illustrated. The preprinted lineups include Rice, Goslin, Harris, and Bluege for Washington, and Carey, Cuyler, and Traynor for Pittsburgh. Neatly scored in pencil for Game 3; recording a 4-3 victory for Washington. The program (8 x 10.5 inches) displays tears (paper loss) to both the front and rear covers, partial separation along the spine, moderate wear, and four detached pages (all of the pages are present). Good condition overall. Total: 3 programs. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $1,763
