1947-1956 Brooklyn Dodgers Memorabilia Collection (6)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,410

This diverse collection is comprised of both extremely rare items and a few less rare but classic pieces, all of which were issued in commemoration of Brooklyn's beloved "Bums." 1) 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers Necktie. The standard men's blue necktie, issued in commemoration of the club's 1947 pennant-winning season, features the script names of all of the players interspersed between four pennants that, alternately, read "Dodgers" and "Brooklyn." Additional lettering at the base reads "National League Champions 1947." All of the lettering is in white. This is the first example of this tie that we have seen. The tie displays a few very light areas of discoloration and is in Excellent condition overall. 2) 1947 Baseball's Beloved Bums - The Brooklyn Dodgers by Joe Hasel. This lavishly illustrated eighty-page magazine, published in 1947 by Weiser Publishing Co., New York, recaps the 1946 season, previews the upcoming 1947 season, and looks back at past great Dodger players and teams. This particular edition is noteworthy for the inclusion of a special insert on Jackie Robinson. Apparently, the magazine was published prior to Robinson joining the club, which occurred just before the start of the season. To rectify the glaring omission, the publishers reissued the magazine in May with a special insert that pictures Robinson and offers a glowing review of his play during the first month of the season. The magazine (9 x 12 inches) displays light-to-moderate wear, including partial separation of the covers. The original price on the cover ("Price One Dollar") has been crossed out in ink and "35 cents" is written below it. All of the pages remain clean and bright. Vg-Ex. 3) 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series Press Pin. Dieges & Clust. Threaded-post back. All original. Nr-Mt. 4) 1956 Gold Tie Tack. Rare presentation piece issued in commemoration of the club's 1956 pennant-winning season. The 10K gold tie tack, which is crafted much like a World Series ring, displays a baseball-diamond design in the center. A large CZ stone sits in the center of the "diamond" while four smaller CZ stones are used to represent the bases. The lettering around the perimeter reads "1956 Brooklyn National League Champions." Both "Dieges & Clust" and "10K" are engraved on the reverse. All original and complete. Approximately .75 in diameter. Nr-Mt. 5) 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Coaster. High-grade example of this classic souvenir. The base features an illustrated Dodgers cap and is lettered "Brooklyn Dodgers - Record-Smashing Get-Away Streak - 1955." The base is engraved "Delft - Charmo Manufacturing Co. Inc., Matawan, NJ." Four inches in diameter. Ex, with only light wear. In much better condition than normally found. 6) 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series Press Pin. This is the premier 1950s World Series press pin. It is also one of the scarcest from the era. Dieges & Clust. Clasp. Nr-Mt. Total: 6 items. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,410
