1911 to 1947 Rare Baseball Pinback Collection (11)

Exceptional sample collection of eleven all-time classic baseball pinbacks dating from 1911 to 1947. All are in high-grade. The collection includes the following: 1) 1911 Diamond Gum: Overall (Ex). 2) 1915 PM1 Ornate Border Pin: Johnny Evers (Ex). 3) 1924 Chicago Evening American Cubs: Grover Alexander (Ex). 4) 1924 Mrs. Sherlock's Bread: Rogers Hornsby (Ex with back paper). 5) 1929 Certified Ice Cream Rogers Hornsby. Crisp and clean, just missing the pin (easily replaced), otherwise Excellent condition. 6) Circa 1930s Triplex Shoe Jimmie Foxx. Scarce advertising pin variety in Excellent condition. 7) Circa 1932 Babe Ruth movie advertising pinback. This extremely rare pin features a portrait of Ruth and was issued by Universal Pictures. This pin advertises a series of baseball instructional shorts titled Play Ball with Babe Ruth, which were released in 1932 and which featured Ruth teaching youngsters the finer points of the game. No back paper, otherwise Excellent condition. 8) 1933 Pennant Winners: Joe Cronin (missing the pin on reverse, easily replaced, otherwise Nr/Mt). 9) 1934 Ward's Sporties: Charlie Gehringer (Ex-Mt). 10) 1940 "Walter Johnson For Congress" Pin. Issued after his playing days, in 1940 when he ran for U.S. Congress in Maryland. Missing the pin and some light staining on the curl. Vg condition. 11) 1947 "I'm Rooting For Jackie Robinson" pin. Ex-Mt condition. Sharp-looking group including several exceptional rarities. Total: 11 pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,998
