Dieges & Clust; threaded-post back. Ex-Mt. 7) 1929 Philadelphia A's. Manufacturer unknown; threaded-post back. Manufacturer unknown; threaded-post back. The fastener is not original to the pin; otherwise Ex. Also included in this collection is a small, unusual pin dating to the 1917 World Series, that we have seen before. The diamond-shaped pin features a representation of a baseball set upon a blue-enamel surface that is lettered "World Series 1917." The team name "Giants" appears upon the ball. This is not the official 1917 New York Giants press pin, and its exact purpose and significance is unknown, but these pins always show up only with early press pins of the era. It is clearly related to the manufacture and distribution of press pins. We can only speculate that it was issued along with the 1917 press pins, either as a second design ordered by the Giants due to a shortage of the regular pin, or perhaps issued as a souvenir to dignitaries attending the Series. Though its precise identification is a mystery, it is an attractive and rare complement to a World Series press-pin collection. Dieges & Clust; threaded-post back. Ex-Mt. Total 10 pins (9 official World Series press pins and an unofficial 1917 Giants World Series press pin). Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $12,925
